Board approves revised Southwest High School logo for trademark and use

The Green Bay Area Public School District board unanimously approved a revised trademark logo for Southwest High School after district staff and school leaders presented stakeholder engagement findings and design rationale.
Presenters Laurie Blakeslee and Mike (Southwest presenter) told the board they consulted building leadership, students and alumni and found the boxed version of the logo produced inconsistent color reproduction (sometimes appearing purplish) and presented problems for embroidery and merchandise. The recommended mark returns to a lighter "bridal blue," improves contrast in the Trojan profile and removes the boxed element to make apparel, signage and court-floor reproduction easier and more consistent.
Melissa, district legal counsel, said the revised mark should be easier to trademark because the version with the boxed element lacked consistent public use in prior years. The district plans to proceed with trademark filings and update websites and social accounts after finalization.
The board briefly discussed rebranding timing and budget implications; presenters said replacement of physical items would be phased in as items (floor work, signage, apparel) are updated. Online voting recorded all board members in favor.
