Grafton board hears construction update as district readies buildings for fall

The Grafton School District board received a construction update June 23 showing progress on a new building addition and interior remodels and confirming timeline targets ahead of the 2025–26 school year.
Topher (Speaker 4) said the new building addition is “substantially complete,” showed photos of hallways and classrooms, and described progress on interior demolition and framing. He said the cafeteria demo is finished and framing is in place, with completion targets that include July 29 for an existing science room, Aug. 12 for a new science room and cafeteria framing, and Aug. 18 for substantial completion of the remodel; landscaping and parking work is expected to be substantially complete by Aug. 11. Topher also said power is anticipated to be turned back on July 3.
Topher noted invoicing for the project has increased from roughly 39% to about 49% as contractors begin to submit larger invoices for completed work.
Superintendent Mr. Nelson (Speaker 2) thanked custodial and support staff and outside contractors for moving rooms and preparing spaces quickly so demo could begin soon after school let out.
Board members asked clarifying questions about the power outage and switch-gear replacement; Topher confirmed switch-gear and transformer work was the cause and is complete. The administration said the schedule remains on track for opening school next year.
