The Cuba City School District Board of Education approved multiple routine and policy items at its July meeting. Highlights of motions and outcomes are below.
- Consent agenda: moved and seconded by trustees; motion carried (unanimous affirmation on the record).
- Purchase of replacement water softener (elementary school): board approved purchase of a replacement water softener priced about $8,600 and decided to contract a local installer; motion carried with roll-call affirmation.
- District handbook revisions: trustees approved consolidated district handbook language clarifying May 15 contract offer timelines, adding a two-week resignation notice expectation and clarifying employee accident-reporting requirements.
- School parent/student handbook updates (CCES, middle and high school): trustees approved condensed and updated handbooks, including transportation cutoff dates, updated cafeteria prices and revised dress/grooming language; middle- and high-school handbooks include new policies restricting cell phones and smartwatches to lockers during the school day.
- Cash in lieu of insurance: the board approved changing the district handbook to offer a $4,000 cash-in-lieu stipend for employees electing outside coverage, with an annual review process.
- Wellness plan: trustees approved the district wellness plan and noted the plan will be posted with Wellsat assessment materials on the district website.
- Branding: the board approved retaining the district nickname “Cubans” and approved the shield/logo package with multiple color variations.
- Academic standards: the board approved the 2026 Cuba City School District academic standards with no changes.
- Personnel hires: trustees approved the hire of CCES art teacher Kate Eshelman, middle-school math teacher Daniel Merwin and paraeducator Julia Blum, among other personnel items.
For each approved item the meeting minutes record motions, seconders and roll-call affirmations. Several matters discussed (notably athletic-pass proposals and detailed budget modeling) were not decided and were assigned to staff for return in August.
