District construction update: contractors on site, gym expected around Christmas 2026 if schedule holds

The Cuba City School District received a detailed update on referendum-funded construction and project scheduling at the board meeting.
Brad, identified in the meeting as the Epic representative working on the project, told trustees that early-phase contracts—excavation, concrete foundations, precast panels and major mechanical and electrical systems—have been awarded and mobilized. He said the “all in” construction figure in the packet was about $26.85 million and that, depending on final bid results, the district could see between $5 million and $6 million in additional spendable funds while maintaining a roughly $1 million contingency.
Brad described near-term tasks: sidewalk and curb work, grading, blacktop and stripe work, painting and acoustical work in the high-school hallway, delivery of furniture the week of Aug. 11, and rubber-floor installation and locker deliveries in the coming weeks. He estimated that excavation and foundations would begin in late August and, barring material or weather delays, the district could turn the gym over for use after the 2026 Christmas break.
Board members asked for continued confidentiality on some pending bids until contracts are finalized and requested regular updates. No construction contract changes requiring board approval were presented at the meeting.
