Administration described a three‑tier model: Tier 1 is universal instruction in the classroom; Tier 2 identifies students who need targeted academic assistance (with defined entrance and exit criteria and use of Cardinal Time for interventions); and Tier 3 provides intensive at‑risk services. The district included online credit recovery via Edgenuity, a newly introduced GED Option 2, HSED options through the technical college and the Challenge Academy at Fort McCoy as part of a comprehensive set of pathways.
"We just introduced this year the GED option 2," the presenter said, noting that putting these options in a document gives parents something concrete to review and discuss. Trustees asked whether adoption required formal board action; administration clarified the board was being asked to approve the plan as presented. Shelley moved to approve the at‑risk/alternative education pathways plan; Jessica seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.
Administration noted the plan does not immediately change classroom practice but provides an organized framework for placement, monitoring and exit criteria and will be used in conversations with families and counselors.
