Forest Lake staff update: planner resigns; two new officers join police department; capital projects moving forward

Abby told the council that City Planner Ken Roberts has resigned to accept a development director position in North Saint Paul; his last day is next Friday. Staff said they will contract temporary planning services with Bolton and MIG's planning division while recruiting for community development positions.
Chief Pearson announced two new officers, Tyler Carpenter and Hunter McBride, started with the Forest Lake Police Department. Pearson said both officers will undergo two weeks of initial training followed by field training.
Ryan (staff) updated the council on capital projects: Washington County began traffic control work on Bridal/Washington County with an anticipated continuation through June 15; a Highway 97 project is scheduled to start around June 3; and two bids will open this week for the North Shore Trail, a local street project and a South Water Tower rehabilitation.
Next steps: staff to pursue temporary planning support, complete recruitments, and continue project bidding and coordination with Washington County.
