District introduces new parent liaison and showcases student Holocaust project

Tamisha Demetra Dugal, the district’s Parent Liaison Program Manager, introduced Kim Kook as the new Parent Liaison for Johnson County School District #1. Tamisha summarized Kim’s local roots, education (BA in elementary/early childhood education, University of Wyoming) and experience with family-support work at Compass; she said Kim will begin school-based work immediately and is running a parenting class at Cloud Peak Elementary.
Kim Kook told trustees she was ‘‘so super excited to start this and jump in with both feet,’’ said she was raised in Johnson County and emphasized her commitment to supporting families in Buffalo and KC.
Trustees also paused regular business for a student presentation: two ninth-grade students, Cruz Garcia and Caleb Wilson, introduced a student-created Holocaust interpretive project developed over several class periods and inspired by the book Night. The students invited trustees and the public to view the exhibit during a short recess.
Separately, Anita Bartlett (Powder River Conservation District) updated the board on a community road-trip tree-planting effort: eight trees planted last year (various fruit trees) with irrigation installed and additional plantings planned in May.
