Administrators described the strike's impact: systems were shaken, there was smoke in one area, and staff worked extended hours to repair damage and restore functionality. The superintendent said the district submitted required paperwork related to construction impacts and noted state statutes allow exemptions for missed instructional days when construction is out of the district's control.
Trustees also discussed other operational items, including irrigation/waterline issues that will limit watering of athletic fields until city repairs are completed. The district said it will continue to monitor facilities and coordinate with city crews on water repairs while keeping schools operational.
No votes were taken on emergency repairs at the meeting; administrators described next steps for repairs and reporting and thanked staff for the response that enabled the district to open on schedule.
