District to house Sheridan College CDL simulator as officials flag food-service transfers

On budget issues a board member asked for clarification of the food-service numbers in the all-funds budget. District finance staff explained the all-funds totals reflect expenses versus cash and that transfers have been used to cover shortfalls; the finance representative said, "875 is the total budget, but we don't have enough cash to cover the 875. So that's where the transfers are coming in," and that about $250,000 in transfers have been made so far this year. The superintendent said the district will discuss the matter more fully at the February session.
Trustees also discussed scheduling pressures for activities and how limited staff and officials complicate creative travel or central-site solutions for contests and tournaments.
The board did not take a formal vote on procurement or the CDL partnership at this meeting; staff indicated the simulator arrangement and intercom work are in planning and procurement phases and that further recommendations will come later.
