At its Dec. 9 meeting, the Goshen County School District #1 board approved a set of business and personnel items under new and old business.
Audit and minutes: The board voted to approve the 2023–24 district financial audit as presented. Separately, the board amended and approved minutes of the Nov. 25 special meeting after members agreed to strike an erroneous adjournment entry and approve the revised minutes.
Personnel: Trustees voted to accept resignations submitted by several certified staff (listed in the agenda) with stated effective dates and approved offering a prorated contract to Jessica Davis for a district school psychologist position effective Jan. 13, 2025; staff said hiring Davis would replace some contracted third-party services.
Facilities and procurement: The board approved contracting with JEO Architecture for design, bidding and construction administration services for five summer 2025 major maintenance projects at an hourly not-to-exceed amount of $189,400 to be funded from the district's major maintenance fund. Staff described how major maintenance funding is allocated by the state (based on square footage) and said the building committee will review budget numbers before any project award. Trustees also approved purchase of four Millermatic multiprocess welders for LFL agriculture education from Airgas at a total cost of $15,590.08 to be funded through Perkins grant funds; trustees discussed disposal options for existing equipment and federal-property rules for grant-funded assets.
Each item was approved by motion and voice vote where noted. The board's business actions will proceed to implementation steps described in staff recommendations (e.g., bidding, building-committee review, contract administration).
