Becker also described the GLP full‑service plan, which would include parts, labor and coverage for major components (compressors, heat exchangers and crane costs) in exchange for a higher, budget‑stable annual fee. He said the GLP model is used by other school systems to move from reactive repairs to a budget‑neutral model where occasional breakdowns are absorbed into an annual contract.
Board members asked whether the district could select different coverage per building (Becker: yes), how long the quoted prices would be honored (Becker: he would honor prices through year‑end), and whether contracts were annual (Becker: yes, with a 30‑day out clause). Becker also reminded trustees that refrigerant usage and EPA record‑keeping are contractor responsibilities when refrigerants are used.
No procurement decisions were made at the meeting; Newman representatives left business cards and offered follow‑up information to staff for further evaluation.
