Board recognizes FBLA state placers and underclassmen qualifying for state swim

Taylor County School Board members recognized student achievements from the Future Business Leaders of America program and the school swim team.
Brenda Boyard introduced the FBLA students and said the chapter had “24 qualify” for state events, though only 11 will attend nationals this year. Several students introduced themselves and listed placements: Sofia Austin said she “placed first in the future business leader competition” and also placed second in organizational leadership; other students reported top-three finishes in impromptu speaking, business law and client service.
Board members congratulated the students and encouraged them to report back on performance at nationals. The board also recognized two underclassmen swimmers who qualified for state in relay events; staff noted the district has qualified swimmers five years in a row despite being without a pool on campus and thanked coaches and parents for supporting student practice and travel.
