Development Authority asks board to allow feasibility study for Camp Toles mountain-bike course

A member of the Taylor County Development Authority told the school board that the authority is exploring a feasibility study to develop a mountain-bike course at Camp Toles, which the speaker described as school-owned property.
"What we would like you to consider is the development authority maybe doing a feasibility study to maybe develop an actual course there," the representative said, offering to cover the cost of a survey and to give any resulting survey to the board if the project does not move forward.
The representative said the authority had researched acreage (about 85 acres) and local trail access and that the project would not cost the school board at the study stage. Board members asked for the item to be put on a future agenda for consideration and asked that the representative be notified when it is scheduled.
The board took this as an informational request and directed staff to add the feasibility item to an upcoming agenda so the board could discuss potential terms and any concerns about liability or site use.
