Board members agreed to move the September 9 meeting to Sept. 11 at 6 p.m.; the motion to accept the agenda with that change was made and approved by voice vote. A subsequent motion to approve minutes from the prior meeting was also approved by voice vote.
Staff presented a one‑year renewal agreement with Neola to support updates to the district's policy manual. "This agreement is a renewal of the original agreement for 1 calendar year in the amount of $5,000 for consultation fees," staff said. The consent agenda also included an out‑of‑state student trip to the FAA NextGen Emerging Technologies Conference in Fargo, North Dakota, with funding noted to cover student and sponsor travel, and recognition of the Buckhannon Upshur Middle School cheerleading boosters as an outside organization after required documentation was provided.
Financially, staff told the board that FY2025 closeout statements will be presented in September and must be approved and shared with the public. Personnel items included multiple resignations and hires across professional and service positions, extracurricular personnel updates, and placements of teacher candidates from West Virginia Wesleyan with varying embedded field‑placement hours across fall 2025 and spring 2026 courses.
Board members also received committee updates and local parks‑and‑rec items. The meeting adjourned at 6:38 p.m.; the board's next meeting was set for Sept. 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Buchanan Upshur High School.
