School counselors and central‑office staff used presentations to stress mental‑health and family supports available to students and guardians across the county.
A school counselor at Glen Fork described grief‑support work after recent student and community losses, on‑site social‑emotional activities, breathing and grounding techniques for classrooms and plans to provide counseling content to parents during conferences. The counselor said the district seeks to push Cook Center resources (an online guidance platform) to families and staff so they can access counseling tools and parenting resources asynchronously.
Keith Stewart and district staff said the Cook Center partnership includes a staff‑guidance feature that provides on‑demand advice and resources for teachers and parents; the district has been actively signing up staff and aims to expand parent access, noting Cook Center materials on anxiety, homework support and bullying as examples. Stewart said Wyoming County is among the state’s top participants in the staff‑guidance rollout and that district principals will promote additional signups.
Board members discussed the importance of school visits and family engagement as part of outreach and commended the efforts to provide both in‑school supports and online tools for families who cannot attend in‑person programs. No new funding lines were approved during the meeting; staff described Cook Center access as part of existing WDE‑supported initiatives.
