The Summers County Board of Education on Aug. 12 approved its monthly bills, with one member recusing from payment of two vendor invoices because of a business relationship.
A board member moved to pull invoices for Safe and Sound and RT Rogers from the general bills list for separate handling, and the motion carried unanimously. Later the board voted to pay the separated invoices; the board recorded a 4–0 approval and noted that one member left the room and was recused because they do business with those vendors.
The board then approved the remainder of the bills by a recorded 5–0 vote.
The chair framed the votes as routine financial business, and no further discussion was recorded on the vendor payments. The minutes reflect the recusal and the separate votes for the pulled items.
