Superintendent Porter announced that Wetzel County Schools will begin building a new 6-through-12 school and an accompanying career and technical education (CTE) center in Porters Falls. "Today, we begin the process of building the brand new 6 through 12 school along with our CTE in Porters Falls," Porter said.
Porter described the project as a milestone for the district and highlighted planned features including "innovative curriculum" and a "state of the art sports complex" intended to serve students across grades six through 12. He thanked board member Ben McPherson, faculty, staff, the county office team and Wetzel County families for their support in bringing the project to this point.
The superintendent said the district will seek input from students and community members "as we select the name of the new school, the colors, and the mascot." Porter did not specify a construction timeline, budget or funding sources during the announcement. He closed by extending Thanksgiving greetings to families: "I wish you and your family a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving."
