Pendleton County Schools board approves resignations, advertises COTA position and hires summer drivers

The Pendleton County Schools board approved meeting minutes and a slate of personnel actions at its most recent meeting, including two resignations, permission to advertise an itinerant certified occupational therapy assistant position and the hire of two summer bus drivers.

The board voted to approve the resignations of Shannon Hartman and Tyler Day "as presented," following a superintendent recommendation and a motion that was seconded and approved. Chair-led votes on routine personnel business drew verbal approvals from board members.

The superintendent recommended permission to post for an itinerant certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA). A staff member explained the district previously contracted for occupational therapy services but "they're not gonna be able to work with us moving forward," so the district is pursuing hiring the COTA as an employee. The staff member said hiring the position as an employee would allow Medicaid billing under supervision by a licensed occupational therapist and could yield higher billing amounts than the district's current provider arrangements. The board approved permission to post the position.

Separately, the board approved hiring Bobby Kiesecker and Lisa Raines as Energy Express bus drivers. A board member asked only clarifying questions about the drivers' duties before the motion passed.

There were no public comments on personnel items. The meeting record shows the board also approved minutes from prior meetings and then moved on to other business. The board confirmed the next meeting is scheduled for July 1, 2025.
