Ohio County board approves personnel recommendations and adopts updated personnel policies

At the Feb. 9 meeting the Ohio County Board of Education voted unanimously to accept the personnel recommendations presented by Superintendent Dr. Miller, including the transfer/appointment of Chalmer Moffitt to a principal role. The motion was made, seconded and adopted on a voice vote with no recorded dissents.
The board also reviewed and approved two policy updates. Revisions to policy 4013.01 (laterality) and policy 4014.01 (transfer/reduction in force) were presented as changes to reflect state law and adjusted dates; both motions to accept the revised policies were moved, seconded and adopted unanimously.
The consent agenda (items 7.1–7.8) was presented and approved. Board members discussed specific paid bills and grants during the review, including state CTE grant purchases for lab supplies (approximately a six-figure grant total) and a $12,000 Teacher of the Year travel grant directed to cover travel costs. Finance staff reported $489,000 received so far from insurance related to storm damage and said FEMA work is ongoing.
