During the Dec. 16 public comment period at Lincoln High School, a coach told the board that a district decision to cancel extracurricular activities on Dec. 13 allowed Bridgeport Wrestling to compete because members were already at their venue, but his team (also already at a tournament) was not granted the same permission.
The commenter said Bridgeport was competing in Berkeley Springs, a longer trip, while his team was at a nearer university event and that the inconsistency "felt like it was unfair" and could affect regional and state rankings. He urged the board to make cancellations and any exceptions clear and consistent so teams in similar circumstances receive the same opportunity.
Chair (speaker S2) invited the commenter and other delegation members to speak with board members after the meeting; the transcript shows no further action or formal response recorded in open session.
