After a short executive session for personnel with no action announced while in closed session, the Hardy County Schools board returned to open session and voted on a comprehensive set of personnel recommendations from the superintendent.
Superintendent Sheena Vanmeter presented a slate that included approval of a countywide substitute teacher, leaves of absence for two staff members, unpaid leave requests, numerous service‑personnel hires and several professional and extracurricular assignments. Vanmeter also recommended a set of step salary increases and a range of volunteer and unpaid coach designations.
A motion to accept the superintendent’s recommendations was made and seconded; the board approved the personnel package by voice vote (the meeting record reflected the motion passed, with vote tallies announced as 4–0 for the superintendent’s recommendations).
The personnel list included many routine hires and approvals that administrators said were needed to begin the school year; specific names and assignments were recorded in the meeting minutes and will be reflected in personnel files.
