Board approves contracts for health, vision, speech, occupational therapy and Medicaid billing

The board renewed an agreement with Interim Health Care of Morgantown for nursing staffing to serve a student with severe disabilities and approved a vision-services contract (direct instruction billed in minutes per student IEP), speech pathology contracts (local providers and a staffing agency to replace a retiring clinician), and an occupational-therapy contract for direct services. The superintendent described these as routine renewals or well-established engagements the district has used in prior years.
The board also approved an annual memorandum of understanding with the Marion County Board of Education to handle Medicaid billing services and authorized payment to West Virginia Cares and Identigo for background checks and fingerprinting needed for pre-K employees.
All motions passed by voice vote. Board members asked clarifying questions about service frequency, IEP-based minutes (vision service described as 300 minutes per month) and staffing transitions; the superintendent confirmed service models are tied to students’ IEPs.
What’s next: Contracts will be executed for the 2025–26 school year and the district will include the MOU and vendor arrangements in upcoming operational reports.
