The Gilmer County Schools board entered executive session under West Virginia code 6-9-8-42 to discuss personnel matters and, after reconvening, approved several staffing recommendations.
A board member moved to go into executive session citing the state code provision for personnel matters; the motion carried. When the board returned to open session the superintendent asked the board to approve professional recommendations pending background checks and certification. The board approved the following hires or recommendations as presented: Sharon Jones (ALC teacher administrator); Aileen or Eileen Matheny (student support specialist); and Craig Arthur (student support specialist). The approvals were made pending required background checks and certification.
The board also approved extracurricular recommendations including Kelsey Hickman as head cross‑country coach and Anita Roberts for a counseling role (transcript: 'tenorant counselor'). The motions to approve the professional and extracurricular sections of the personnel agenda were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
The transcript records the motions and outcomes but does not include roll-call vote tallies; the approvals were recorded as carried by the board.
