District staff told the board the baseball program is seeking approval for an overnight trip to play at Cary Wood Field in Chicago on April 11, with about 16 players and two staff attending and an estimated cost of $95 per student. The trip is slated for the Nov. 20 meeting.
Athletics leaders also described requests to increase coaching stipends for safety and growth: the gymnastics co-op that now combines several area schools would add a third paid coach to provide closer supervision on equipment; total cost is split among five schools, producing an estimated Wilmot share of about $1,200 for the new coach.
Wrestling has seen rapid growth, particularly in girls participation. Head coach Mr. Gardner said roughly 15 girls have signed up for the program and that expanding the paid coaching staff will allow better coverage across varsity and junior varsity sessions; stipend estimates ranged based on experience levels. Administrators said each staffing or trip request will be presented for approval at the regular Nov. 20 meeting.
