"I moved the appointment of Dr. Manning as superintendent of Gilmer County Schools for a term of 4 years to begin on 07/01/2026 at an annual salary of $130,000..." the member said. The motion authorized the board president to sign the contract on behalf of the board. The chair (S1) called for a second and the motion carried on a voice vote.
The board also approved routine consent-agenda items by voice vote: minutes from the Dec. 15, 2025 regular meeting and the Jan. 5, 2026 special meeting; bills for payment as presented; and the district's FY25 individual school audits. Ginger (S5), who presented the bills and audit summary, told trustees the high school audit returned zero findings and another school had a single finding tied to interest processing; staff said retraining and revised review steps were already in place to prevent similar issues.
On personnel, trustees accepted extracurricular hires recommended by the superintendent (S4) — including Nathan James as head mini-titan baseball coach and two auxiliary coaches — and approved posting an itinerant custodian position shared between the board office and Gilmer County Elementary and a quiz bowl coach posting.
The chair said the superintendent's contract and related documents were made available for public inspection at the meeting and posted on the board's website. No roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript; the chair called for aye/voice votes and announced each motion carried.
The meeting concluded after brief board-member remarks and a motion to adjourn.
