East Troy voters approve $19.4 million capital referendum; board authorizes PSI as general contractor

Voters in the East Troy Community School District approved a $19,400,000 capital referendum on Nov. 5, and the school board on the next regular meeting voted to proceed by authorizing Performance Services (PSI) to serve as the general contractor for the projects the referendum funds will finance.

Amy, a district staff member who presented the results, thanked the community for its support: "We want to thank our community for the support of this capital referendum. We are incredibly pleased that our community recognizes the importance of addressing our most critical needs for the betterment of our schools and students," she said.

School leaders told the board that PSI’s total contract price matches the referendum amount, and Jake, a representative of Performance Services, outlined an early project schedule. "Starting on December 2, we will have the design team kickoff," Jake said. He said follow-up design meetings would run through January, projects would go out to bid in February, and the board could expect to review pricing and consider approvals around March to allow summer installation.

Board members pressed no substantive objections at the meeting; after a motion to approve PSI as the general contractor, the board approved the contract by voice vote.

The board and staff emphasized the need to meet procurement and material lead-time milestones so summer work can proceed. District staff said detailed planning will continue in design meetings and that the board will see bid documents and pricing before construction contracts are finalized.

Next steps: design team kickoff Dec. 2, bidding in February and a projected board action on bids around March, per the contractor’s timeline.
