Public commenter alleges surveillance footage withheld, urges board to fire superintendent

At the start of the public-comment portion of the Nov. 10 Wausau School District Board meeting, a member of the public identified on the agenda as Mr. Decker criticized the district’s grading practices and made an allegation that the district has withheld surveillance footage from a four-year-old incident.
Decker said the district is "continuing to pay legal fees for the cover up of a crime" and claimed surveillance video proves what happened in the earlier incident; he said the district’s attorney has characterized the footage as "individual pupil files," which he called "absurd." He urged the board to hold the superintendent accountable and said, "If the superintendent continues to refuse to obey open records law, I would hope that you guys as a board would enact your primary function, that would be to fire the superintendent."
Board members did not take action during public comment. The board chair thanked the speaker for bringing his concerns forward. The district did not provide a response during the meeting; the allegation remains an unresolved public allegation recorded in the meeting minutes.
