District says elementary renovation nearly complete; TechEd and elevator running behind schedule

District staff (S4) told the board on Aug. 14 that exterior work and most interior finishes at the elementary are nearly complete, with punch‑list items scheduled for completion in September or early October. The director said the elementary office and many classrooms are ready and that new fixtures and ADA‑compliant restrooms are installed.
The TechEd addition, however, will not be finished by the start of school. S4 said the district will have access to two TechEd classrooms initially but will not have shop access until the addition is complete. The director said new equipment replacement is scheduled for Oct. 15; in the interim some construction/shop classes will run off‑site or be modified. S4 also described a subcontractor/manufacturing issue that delayed an elevator near the cafeteria; a temporary lift could be installed but would further delay the permanent elevator by about a week and a half.
S4 highlighted interior finishes (new sinks, flooring, casework), a new masonry veneer and added safety fencing at the elementary that reduces crossing points for students and parents. The board thanked custodial and construction crews for progress while noting some cosmetic items remain.
The district also announced upcoming public events: a parent back‑to‑school night Aug. 28, an elementary ribbon cutting Aug. 29 at 5 p.m., and a later ribbon cutting for the TechEd/middle school area likely in early November.
