Wooster superintendent says redistricting paused while board weighs facilities options

Superintendent Gabe Tudor told families the district will not carry out a redistricting plan next year while the school board continues to evaluate longer-term facility solutions.
Tudor said the redistricting proposal developed after a May bond attempt that did not pass would have placed third- and fourth-graders at Cornerstone and distributed kindergarten through second grade among Melrose, Kenan and Parkview, with preschool remaining at Cornerstone. “Ultimately, the board hasn't made a decision yet, and we do not feel that until we have clarity on our long term facility solution, it would be appropriate to redistrict,” he said.
He encouraged families to watch the November and December board meeting recordings for detailed discussion he presented to the board and said the board is weighing options to address the district's facility needs. “The board continues to have some great conversations, and are thinking a lot about what's best for our facilities,” Tudor said.
Tudor said he will update families if and when the board arrives at a facilities plan that prompts changes to the redistricting proposal. For now, he said, the district’s four elementary schools will remain configured as K–4 buildings and preschool will remain at Cornerstone.
