Wooster superintendent announces May 29 makeup day after sixth snow day

Superintendent Gabe Tudor told families that Wooster City Schools will use the first embedded makeup day on May 29 to replace a recent snow day after the district reached its sixth missed day this winter.
Tudor, who identified himself as the district superintendent, said the district’s calendar absorbs the first five calamity days and that additional missed days trigger makeup days embedded later in the school year. “We will utilize that first makeup day on May 29 in order to make up the snow day that we had last week,” he said.
He noted the district considers road conditions, forecasts and temperatures when deciding closures, and emphasized that the district looks at wind chill rather than air temperature alone when evaluating student safety. “We wanna have your kids here if it's safe, but sometimes, ultimately, it just isn't safe to do so,” Tudor said.
Tudor said families will be updated if additional calamity days this winter require further makeup plans. He encouraged anyone with questions to contact the district and to review the email updates the district has sent to families.
The message did not include a revised end-of-year calendar beyond the May 29 makeup date; Tudor said further schedule changes, if needed, will be announced.
