The Strongsville City School Board voted on several formal actions during the meeting, recording roll-call outcomes on personnel, purchasing and procurement items.
Labor contract: The board ratified a rollover agreement with the Strongsville Education Association effective Aug. 1, 2026 through July 31, 2028. Superintendent Cameron described the agreement as keeping existing language, addressing required legal updates and MOUs, and providing salary increases of 3% in year one and 2.5% in year two. The motion to approve the agreement was moved and seconded; the board recorded a roll-call vote with all present members voting yes and the motion carried.
Buses and transportation purchases: The board approved bids to replace aging special-transportation vehicles, including two minibuses to support students with disabilities and conventional 47-passenger buses through the cooperative purchasing program. Administration stated the replacement vehicles are necessary because two minibuses have reached end of life and parts/lift costs have risen. The resolution authorized purchases not to exceed $3,324,450 for conventional-chassis and bodies and identified the permanent-improvement fund as the source.
Legal counsel: After interviewing two firms, staff and several board members recommended Weston Hurd for negotiations and bargaining work. The board approved notifying Weston Hurd of the decision and proceed with onboarding for upcoming labor negotiations.
Other motions: The board adopted the consent calendar (minutes, personnel items, placements and other business) by a single roll-call vote. The consent calendar and the listed action items were approved as presented.
Roll-call and provenance: The teacher agreement vote was taken with the following roll-call sequence recorded in the meeting minutes: "Ms. Sloczek — Yes; Mr. Griffin — Yes; Mr. Mikko — Yes; Mrs. Hauser — Yes; Mrs. Bissle — Yes"; the motion carried. Bus purchases and consent items were likewise approved via recorded roll calls and unanimous or recorded majority votes listed in the minutes.
Next steps: Administration will proceed with vehicle procurement, onboarding legal counsel for the district's upcoming bargaining cycle, and implementing the ratified SEA agreement per its effective dates.
