Board recognizes award‑winning PE teacher and approves curriculum purchases, travel and partnerships

The Strongsville City School District board recognized Emily Weir, a Kinsner physical education teacher, as the 2025 Ohio Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Young Professional of the Year. Administrators noted Weir’s 10 years with the district, curricular innovations—including a district‑wide roller‑skating unit and a school golf program—and her leadership in raising $12,470 for the American Heart Association and offering CPR training to 650 students in 2025. Weir thanked colleagues and family and invited the community to visit her gym.

On consent items, the board approved a three‑year purchase of Edmentum Courseware for use in district recovery and Strongsville Academy programs, a total contract cost of $99,341.25 ($33,113.75 per year). The board approved a donation agreement permitting Manatee United Soccer Club use of the middle school turf field (discussion referenced $100 per year) and accepted an addendum to the Right at School contract to include spring‑break camps in the district’s revenue sharing.

Human resources presented routine personnel items (resignations, retirements, appointments and substitutes) and the board approved those as part of the consent calendar. Administration said details for travel logistics and any needed contract edits would be resolved with teams and boosters after approval.
