Local inventor pitches routing app for substitute bus drivers

Chris Matacevic used the non-agenda public-comment period to describe a routing tool he said could help substitute bus drivers learn routes more easily. “My name's Chris Matacevic. I came down here just to tell you guys what I have and let you know I have something to offer that might be able to help you out,” he said.
Matacevic described his product, Global Routing Solutions, as a GPS app and a simple tablet player that lets staff record a route by driving it once, save the stops and turnarounds, and then replay that route for substitute drivers to follow. “You record all your routes with all your students… select the route, hit play, and it leads them like a regular GPS,” he said, adding the system is designed to be less costly than some district-wide transponder/tablet deployments.
He told the board the product has been used in other states and said he has sought and received approvals required for demonstrations. Matacevic invited staff to contact him for follow-up and demonstrations; board and staff acknowledged the pitch and indicated they would follow up as appropriate.
