Jackie Belsic, regional manager for Nutrisure Group, told the Rolling Hills Local school board the district has 18 serving days left this school year and that the contractor’s operations have run smoothly.
"It has been an absolute amazing successful year," Belsic said, praising district leadership and staff support. She told the board Nutrisure plans hands-on student programming next year, including a stir-fry action station, corporate chef visits and a "nutrition global" curriculum to expose students to different cuisines.
Belsic also described a push to source more food from Ohio growers: "A lot of our food and stuff that we bring in is strictly through Ohio—supporting all of our local farmers and our local economy," she said. She said the district received a successful review from the state and that participation at the elementary school is approaching full enrollment.
The presentation noted educational benefits besides meal service: students will see menu- and nutrition-related programming and experience chef demonstrations. Board members did not take formal action on the presentation; the item served as an informational update ahead of the end of the school year.
The district’s next school year planning will include continued collaboration with Nutrisure on programming logistics and local procurement strategies.
