The Northridge Local School District board approved three routine items during a special Oct. 22 meeting: volunteer appointments, a set of field trips and the purchase of a replacement district van.
Volunteers (agenda item 2.1) - Motion: Approve the volunteers listed on the agenda pending favorable background checks (BCI/FBI). - Moved: Board member (D). Seconded: Board member (C). - Vote: Roll-call; recorded as unanimous. Outcome: Approved. - Notes: Approvals are conditional on completion of required background checks.
Field trips (agenda item 2.2) - Motion: Approve the field trips listed in item 2.2 (the middle-school trip dated May 28 was noted as the only one finalized at this time). - Moved: Chair requested a motion; Board member (C) moved; motion seconded by Board member (B). - Vote: Roll-call; recorded as unanimous. Outcome: Approved.
District van replacement (agenda item 2.3) - Motion: Approve purchase of the recommended replacement van. - Recommendation: Administration recommended a certified used 2021 GMC cargo van from Lash Chevrolet for $29,689.50; the agenda was corrected to show the trade-in value of the current vehicle is $3,000 (not $2,000). The van carries a one-year certified-used warranty and had approximately 38,656 miles when presented to the board. - Moved: Board member (B). Seconded: Board member (D). - Vote: Voice/roll-call; recorded as unanimous. Outcome: Approved.
All three actions were recorded on the meeting record as passing by unanimous board support. The board’s approval of volunteers is contingent on completion of required background checks; the van purchase will proceed as budgeted and per the procurement discussion.
