Three Lakes board approves personnel changes, an overnight fifth-grade trip and a girls hockey co-op renewal

The Three Lakes School Board approved routine business items including personnel changes, a teacher-led overnight field trip and renewal of an inter-district girls hockey cooperative.

Personnel: the board approved a personnel report that included hires—George Lerby (boys varsity head basketball coach), volunteer coaches Todd Rhea, Jordan Lerby and Jake Wales—and resignations including Brad Volkman (boys varsity head coach) and Carly Veers (varsity track coach).

Field trip: a teacher, identified as Jeff, described a proposed overnight fifth-grade trip to the Northern Lakes Impact Center (Crescent Lake) focused on outdoor education, team-building and standards-aligned activities. The teacher estimated a per-student cost of $85 and outlined staffing, cabin sleeping arrangements and safety measures (AED/CPR-trained staff and adult supervision); the board approved the overnight request by motion and voice vote.

Athletics/co-op: Phil, the athletics representative, presented renewal of a girls hockey cooperative with Northland Pines (Pines remains host) for the 2025–26 season. Participant numbers in the region are low and the coop allows multiple small-area schools to field a program; the board approved the renewal by voice vote.

Other routine items approved by the board included the agenda, meeting minutes, treasurer’s report for accounts payable and payroll and the appointment of WASB delegate and alternate.
