An agency official said the contractor estimated $16,000 to set poles and bases and about $900 per pole for arms and light heads. "So that is all the that $16,000... but now on those poles, we need to put the arms and the light heads... and so those are $900 each," the official said. The official recommended adding roughly a 10% contingency, which would bring a practical budget number to about $19,500–$20,000.
Commissioners discussed whether the cost should come from the district’s own funds or from a city capital fund; the agency official identified the Crossroads taxing-district fund (fund 15) as the likely source for the expenditure and suggested including the amount in the district’s budget request.
Members also asked whether decorative attachments—banners or planters—could be accommodated on the proposed 15-foot poles; the agency official said he would check with the contractor on whether attachments were feasible and to communicate requirements in advance.
