Greenville County Board of Trustees approves updated strategic and audit plans, authorizes legal representation

The Greenville County Board of Trustees on April 22 approved updated 2025 district and school strategic education plans and the 2025–26 annual audit plan, carried a motion to surplus an out parcel at Oak View Elementary School, and authorized the district to provide legal representation for three named employees in an ongoing case under board policy GAEA.

The matters were presented as action items during the meeting. Chair opened the votes for each item: action item 5.01 (updated district and schools strategic education plans) was approved without discussion; action item 5.02 (the external auditor’s 2025–26 annual audit plan) also passed on the committee’s recommendation. During action item 5.03, Mr. Sailors moved to accept administration’s recommendation to surplus the Oak View parcel; the motion was seconded and carried after one board member stated she would recuse herself “out of an abundance of caution.” A later board member asked whether the parcel should have been announced when the surplus was discussed.

On action item 5.04 the board approved providing legal representation for three named district employees in case 625-CV-03185-JDA-KFM “in accordance with board policy GAEA,” following a motion and second. Item 5.05, listed as a contract nonrenewal, was removed from the agenda at the superintendent’s request after the matter was resolved through resignation.
