Superintendent highlights esports, mentorship and student achievements

Presenters also described new and continuing initiatives at the middle school: a male mentorship club aimed at supporting selected students with extra mentoring and academic support, an esports program supported in part by a Rotary sponsorship that has allowed more than 100 students to participate, and a 'building future leaders' leadership program run monthly by a Point Park University consultant (Dr. Nichols). Staff emphasized community partnerships (local businesses, Rotary, Giant Eagle) that support programs, food drives and other student needs.

Next steps: The district said it will continue to expand community partnerships, monitor program participation and return data and presentations to the board as those programs develop.
