AC Valley lists personnel recommendations, says principal candidate will be named next week

The Chair reviewed personnel items at the Sept. 19 Allegheny‑Clarion Valley School Board workshop that will be considered at the district’s Sept. 16 voting meeting, including a resignation and several recommended hires.
The Chair said Lovato Myford has submitted a resignation as principal at the Western Secure Treatment Unit effective Sept. 16. The district also recommended hiring Regina Barris as a full‑time child‑specific aide at a starting rate of $12.66 per hour (rising to $13.66 after the 60‑day probationary period) and recommended Crystal Mauler as a certified teacher at the same pay/benefit structure for the position type.
On athletics and extracurricular staffing, the Chair presented a recommendation to hire Jessica Lutz as a cross‑country coach pending sufficient student participation and to appoint Zachary Lutz as the elementary girls basketball coach; the board noted the elementary coaching salary is historically split ($858 total, dividing to $429 for the girls coach). The Chair said Brianna Sims is recommended as a special‑education teacher at the Western Secure Treatment Unit with a prorated starting salary of $59,790.
Regarding leadership at the Western Secure Treatment Unit, the Chair said the district received 16 applicants for the principal role, interviewed four, and advanced two candidates to a second round of interviews this Thursday. The Chair said, "we have 2 candidates for round 2 this Thursday and hopefully we'll have a name and a proposed salary for the school board on Monday the sixteenth." The board will review and act on these personnel motions at the next public meeting.
No formal votes were taken at the workshop; the Chair emphasized that the personnel items are scheduled for formal action at the Sept. 16 voting meeting.
