The Chair opened the Allegheny‑Clarion Valley School District’s virtual workshop on Sept. 19, 2024, and led a review of the consent agenda covering field trips, staff training conferences and volunteer approvals that will be voted on at the district’s Sept. 16 public meeting.
The review highlighted teacher and staff professional‑development requests, including a Title I‑covered professional symposium with hotel rooms provided and a librarian networking meeting corrected to Sept. 24. The Chair noted the PD363 charter‑school calculation form that itemizes cyber tuition: the district expects to pay $19,353 for a general‑education cyber student and $44,874 for a student with special needs in 2024–25.
The board reviewed several donations intended to help students: a $500 gift from Scrubgrass Presbyterian Church to help pay outstanding student balances, $61 from Amblin 10 United Methodist Church for overdrawn lunch accounts, and a $1,500 payment from Central Electric Cooperative for summer facility use. “We do our very best to distribute that these donations equally among our students,” the Chair said.
On policy matters, the Chair presented the first reading of Policy 813 (insurance and broker/committee options) and second readings of multiple PSBA updates tied to Title IX and related policy numbers (103, 234, 247, 249, 252, 317.1, 336, 709, 807, 824). The district also previewed an updated stand‑alone policy on video surveillance and communication (Policy 336). The Chair said the board will discuss these policies in greater detail at the next public meeting.
Board members did not take formal votes at the workshop; the Chair said many items will be on the agenda for the upcoming Monday voting meeting. The meeting closed with a reminder that the board will convene in the cafetorium at 6:00 p.m. on Sept. 16 for the public session.
