Career center to stop new culinary applicants, add 'Intro to Education' course

"We are gonna close that department, that shop in 3 years," the career center presenter said, adding that current tenth graders would be offered pathways to complete certification or transfer into other shop options. The district plans to introduce an 'Intro to Education' course at the career center as a replacement option and has drafted a grant request to replace the roof and HVAC systems.
Board members discussed transition logistics, staffing and curricular materials; administrators said the biggest near‑term expense will be staffing for any new course. No vote was required at the meeting to implement the instructional change beyond the career center's program planning and grant application efforts.
