At its May 6 meeting the Village Board approved several budgeted purchases recommended by the Finance Committee: courtroom audio equipment, village IT servers and storage, and a replacement water utility vehicle.
The board approved a $39,110.77 quote from AVN for courtroom audio upgrades intended to replace a legacy 1998 system and add wireless microphones and training. A presenter said manufacturer warranties cover components and that AVN has previously worked with the village.
The board also approved a purchase of two servers and SAN storage from Arlington Computer Products for $38,578.26 to refresh the village's non-police IT infrastructure; staff said the items were on the five-year refresh cycle and the purchase had been budgeted.
On the water utility van, staff described three vendor quotes for outfitting a replacement van with a valve exerciser, 11-foot crane, and power converter. A transcription anomaly initially recorded an implausible figure in the meeting audio; staff clarified the correct fully outfitted total is $157,387, to come from the water utility fund. "We received three quotes... based on quotes received, Hiller provided the lowest quote, at $54,995; outfitting to the spec results in a total of $157,387," public works staff said. Trustees pressed whether the vehicle would reduce labor costs; staff said it should increase efficiency and safety but not materially reduce labor.
All three purchases were described as budgeted items and were approved by roll call.
