The Village Board authorized staff to order radios for police, fire and the health department to secure current pricing and ensure equipment delivery in time for the 2026 budget cycle.
Public safety staff presented a bundled proposal that included 40 N70 radios for police (about $294,215.33), 28 intrinsically safe Apex Next radios for the fire department (about $225,729) and two N50 radios for the health department (about $8,900 total). The presenter said the package includes collar mics, extra batteries and chargers and that the vendor required orders by June 29 to secure quoted pricing. ‘‘The proposal is $528,000. It comes with all the radios, the collar mics that we need, extra batteries for each radio, all the chargers,’’ the presenter said.
Trustees asked about optional items, life expectancy and whether staff had reviewed line items; staff said they had vetted the quotes and removed nonessential options. Trustees approved the authorization for ordering the radios by roll call. The radios would be delivered around December with payment required in January; staff said the purchase will be included in the 2026 budget for payment.
