Committee forwards multiple curriculum and program items — Quebec trip, virtual academy, TCHS online courses — to the full board

On June 9 the Curriculum, Instruction & Technology Committee advanced a package of curriculum and program recommendations to the district’s regular board meeting for approval.
Highlights of the packet include:
• Middle‑school Quebec trip: staff described a January 15–19, 2026 trip to Quebec City for seventh‑ and eighth‑grade French students, with guided tours of the parliament and a Chateau Frontenac visit. Staff estimated the cost to families at between $1,050 and $1,420 per student depending on participation levels and group discounts.
• CCIU/Brandywine Virtual Academy (BBA) agreement: staff recommended continuing the multi‑year partnership that provided online courses to 55 district students this year. The agreement supports full‑time virtual students and one‑off course access for students who remain enrolled in Unionville but take a course through the virtual provider.
• TCHS online health and PE courses: the district presented five new fully virtual courses (TCHS Health 1 & 2; TCHS PE 1–3) created by Unionville High School health and PE teachers to replace classes previously offered off‑site by a partner program. Staff said the courses are designed to meet graduation requirements while preserving students’ vocational and technical schedules.
• Additional curriculum resources up for approval: elementary ELA foundational resources, a middle‑school science Lab‑Aids resource, high‑school physics texts (National Geographic Physics and College Physics AP editions), and new German textbooks have completed community review and will be on next week’s board agenda.
Staff repeatedly noted these items were brought before the committee for review and that formal approval will be on the regular board meeting agenda next week. No committee votes were recorded in the June meeting; the committee’s action was to forward the materials for board consideration.
