Bus fleet: staff proposed purchasing six 82‑passenger diesel buses from Wolfington under the Sourcewell contract to replace 6, 12 and 13‑year‑old buses and restore a regular replacement cycle. The administration noted a current manufacturer lead time of about 12 months; the quote includes an estimated tariff allowance of $6,700 per bus included in the subtotal as a maximum and one unit will include a wheelchair lift.
Equipment: the board previewed a robotic floor scrubber for Patton Middle School (financed at three years, 0% interest under state contract pricing) to offset custodial workload, and combi oven replacements for Copson and Unionville elementaries (state contract purchases totaling about $81,006 to be funded from the long‑range facilities plan and the food service fund).
Why this matters: the roofing work addresses active leaks and expiring warranties, bus purchases address fleet safety and scheduling needs, and equipment purchases are meant to maintain facilities and operations. Administrators highlighted procurement via cooperative contracts and noted opportunities to phase work to limit disruption.
