Board approves financial and consent items; superintendent previews five-star state rating

The Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Local School District Board of Education approved the treasurer's report for August and a bundled consent agenda that included personnel actions (certificates of employment, resignations, leaves and supplemental duties) and bus-route designations for the 2024–25 school year.

The clerk called the roll on the treasurer's report after a motion moved by Dr. Pryor and seconded by Ms. Anderson; the board's roll-call responses in the public record were affirmative and the motion carried. The consent agenda covering items 7a–7d was presented by the superintendent and approved by motion and second.

Administration asked the board to authorize the superintendent and transportation coordinator to relocate stops or otherwise adjust routes as needed for student safety during the year. Trustees praised transportation staff and bus drivers for what administration described as a "smooth start to the school year." The board also acknowledged an unexpected invoice from the city of Bellbrook for diesel fuel and approved payment as part of the financial items presented.

The superintendent told trustees that preliminary state report-card results — to be released officially the next day — indicate the district again earned a five-star overall rating, with five stars in several categories and four stars in graduation (missing by 0.3 percentage points). The superintendent said administration will provide more detailed information at a future meeting.

Board members expressed gratitude to donors and staff for recent student experiences and scholarships; the board recognized a converted-club donation supporting multiple scholarships.
