At its Oct. 10 meeting the Bellbrook‑Sugarcreek Local Board of Education approved an employment contract for Amit Gautam to serve as district chief financial officer and treasurer beginning Jan. 1, 2025 and continuing through July 31, 2027.
Chair moved the finance hire and Missus Dorn seconded the motion. The motion language included a prorated step‑10 salary, a maximum five‑day consulting contract through Dec. 31, 2024, and a condition that the appointment be completed pending satisfactory Ohio BCII and federal FBI background checks. The board conducted a roll call and the motion passed.
In introducing the candidate the chair summarized Gautam’s background, saying he served 19 years with the Ohio Auditor of State and most recently worked as an assistant treasurer at Dayton Public Schools managing a large office and budget. After the vote, Amit Gautam addressed the board: "I'd like to thank the board for having faith in me," he said, and described himself as a district resident and parent who looks forward to joining the administration.
The board did not record amendments to the motion. No concern about the background‑check condition was noted on the record. The appointment now proceeds toward the stated Jan. 1, 2025 start date contingent on required clearances.
