The employee handbook was approved after staff outlined three changes: consolidating leave types into a single sick‑leave category, increasing sick‑leave payout from $20 to $25 and removing the previous lifetime payout cap, and increasing the per‑day payout for personal days by $25. The board also completed a first reading of multiple policy changes recommended by legal counsel and the Iowa Association of School Boards; board members noted Title IX changes are pending possible legal injunctions and staff said a second reading would occur in August if appropriate.
Personnel contract: Staff reported that Miss Dara requested release from her contract due to family hardship and steps outlined in board policy had been satisfied; staff indicated they had a potential substitute arrangement through a neighboring district for math instruction. The board voted to release Miss Dara from the contract.
