Students detail FCCLA national conference experience; board approves Anaheim leadership trip

Students and advisers from the district's FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) chapter presented a slide recap of the National Leadership Conference in Seattle, describing networking, competitive events and adviser roundtables.
A student state officer described meeting peers from other states and said the national experience helped her “learn how to make myself a better leader in my community and state.” Presenters noted one student finished near the top in a food innovation competitive event and several students serve as district and state officers.
Following the presentation, the board considered an out-of-state travel request for FCCLA to attend a leadership training in Anaheim (Oct. 24–27). Administration said registration is $510 per person with most registration costs reimbursed through adviser stipends and Perkins/RPP funds; staff indicated additional travel costs such as airfare would be addressed when tickets are purchased.
The board moved and approved the leadership conference trip by roll-call vote. Administration said it intends to use Perkins and RPP funds where eligible and that other local fundraising will offset remaining costs.
Board members invited the students to share photos on their return and thanked them for the presentation.
